About Celithemis elisa (Hagen, 1861)

This species, Celithemis elisa, is a dragonfly with a total body length ranging from 24 to 34 millimeters, and a hindwing length between 25 and 30 millimeters. It can be recognized by the presence of brown spots at both the bases and tips of its wings. The pterostigma is yellow in younger individuals, and becomes red in older individuals. The face is yellow, and turns red in older male specimens. The thorax is yellow-brown, marked with one large dark stripe and several smaller brown stripes. The abdomen is dark, and features paler markings.
