About Celithemis amanda (Hagen, 1861)
Celithemis amanda (Hagen, 1861) measures 24 to 31 millimeters in total length, with a hindwing length ranging from 21 to 27 millimeters. Its face is yellow, which darkens to brown or red in older male individuals. The thorax is also yellow, and darkens to brown with age. The abdomen ranges from dark brown to black, with a small number of dorsal spots and yellow or red markings. The bases of the hindwings are amber or brown, marked with a black stripe. It is similar in appearance to Celithemis ornata, which differs by having a dark spot at the base of each hindwing along with a greater number of stripes.
