About Celastrina lucia (Kirby, 1837)
Celastrina lucia, commonly known as the lucia azure, northern azure, eastern spring azure, or northern spring azure, is a species of butterfly belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This butterfly is found in eastern North America; its range extends from the Maritimes south through the Appalachian Mountains to West Virginia. The wingspan of adult Celastrina lucia measures between 22 and 35 mm. Adults of this species exhibit sexual dimorphism. Adults are active on the wing from April to July. The larvae of Celastrina lucia feed on species from the genus Vaccinium, including Vaccinium pallidum.
