About Ceanothus megacarpus Nutt.

Ceanothus megacarpus Nutt. is a shrub that can grow over 3 meters tall. It is covered with thick, evergreen leaves that range in shape from oval to nearly rectangular. Its small, sparse inflorescences hold many tiny white to pale lavender flowers that have dark centers. The plant produces a bumpy, spherical red-green capsule fruit that is roughly one centimeter wide. The interior of the capsule is split into three valves, and each valve holds one seed. The capsule splits cleanly into three parts along its central band to release its seeds.
