About Ceanothus dentatus Torr. & A.Gray

This shrub, scientifically named Ceanothus dentatus Torr. & A.Gray, grows a highly branched, spreading stem that reaches around 1.5 meters in height. It has evergreen leaves arranged in an alternating pattern, and the leaves often grow in clusters. Each leaf is less than 2 centimeters long, with toothed edges; the leaf blade is wavy, and its margins curl under to give the leaf a slightly ruffled appearance. The leaves are hairy and covered in tiny glandular bumps, with dark, shiny green upper surfaces and paler undersides. The inflorescence is a small cluster that holds many bright blue flowers. The plant produces a lobed, crested capsule fruit that measures about 4 millimeters wide.
