About Caulophyllum giganteum (Farw.) H.Loconte & W.H.Blackw.
Caulophyllum giganteum, commonly known as northern blue cohosh, is a species of flowering plant that belongs to the barberry family. This species is primarily native to northeastern North America, where it grows in rich forests. Caulophyllum giganteum produces between four and eighteen purple flowers in early spring. It blooms roughly 10 to 15 days earlier than its close relative, Caulophyllum thalictroides. C. thalictroides also differs from Caulophyllum giganteum by producing more abundant yellow or green flowers.
