The illustrated introduction specimen is not Catocala umbrosa Brou, 2002, and this species does not occur in Arizona or Canada. Catocala umbrosa is a moth in the family Erebidae that was first described by Vernon Antoine Brou Jr. in 2002. Its range extends from Arizona east to New Jersey, and from Florida north to Canada. Adult Catocala umbrosa are active on wing from April to August, and there is one generation of the species per year.
