About Catocala gracilis W.H.Edwards, 1864

Catocala gracilis, commonly known as the graceful underwing, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first formally described by William Henry Edwards in 1864. It is distributed across North America, ranging from Manitoba to Nova Scotia and Maine in the north. Its range extends south through Connecticut and New Jersey to Florida, and west to Mississippi and Missouri. The wingspan of adult graceful underwings measures between 40 and 45 millimeters. Depending on their location, adults are active in flight from July to September. There is one generation of the species produced each year.
