Catocala epione, commonly known as the Epione underwing, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first described by Dru Drury in 1773. It is distributed in North America, ranging from Quebec and Ontario in the north, south through Connecticut to Florida, and west to Texas and Oklahoma. The wingspan of Catocala epione measures 55 to 65 millimeters. Adult moths are active from August to September. The species likely produces one generation per year. The larvae of this moth feed on Carya ovata.
