About Catocala concumbens Walker

Catocala concumbens, commonly known as the sleepy underwing or pink underwing, is a moth species that belongs to the family Erebidae. This species was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1858. It is distributed in eastern North America, extending west across the southern half of the Prairie Provinces to reach eastern Alberta. The wingspan of adult Catocala concumbens ranges from 60 to 75 mm. Depending on location, adults have one generation per year, and they are on wing in August. The larvae of this moth feed on species from the Populus and Salix genera.
