Catocala badia, commonly known as the bay underwing, bayberry underwing, or old maid, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. This moth is distributed from southern Maine and southern New Hampshire, extending southward to New York and Connecticut. Its wingspan measures between 50 and 60 mm. The species is thought to produce one generation per year. The badia subspecies of Catocala badia is classified as a species of special concern in Connecticut. The larvae of this moth feed on Comptonia peregrina, Myrica cerifera, Myrica gale, and Myrica pensylvanica.
