Its inflorescence is composed of layers of greenish bracts, with tips colored from dull to very bright shades of red, orange, or yellow. The flowers that emerge between the bracts often have similar coloration to the bract tips. The fruit produced by this plant is a capsule that reaches up to 2 centimeters in length.
