About Cassytha melantha R.Br.

Cassytha melantha is a parasitic vine. Its common names are coarse dodder-laurel and large dodder-laurel. Its fruits are around 10 to 15 millimetres (0.39 to 0.59 inches) in diameter. The fruits are green when fresh, and turn black as they dry. The fruits of Cassytha melantha are edible, and are harvested from wild growing plants. This species is found in the Australian states of Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and New South Wales. The name Cassytha melantha has sometimes been incorrectly used to refer to Cassytha filiformis.
