About Cassinia aureonitens N.A.Wakef.
Cassinia aureonitens N.A.Wakef. is a shrub that usually reaches a height of 2 to 3 meters (6 feet 7 inches to 9 feet 10 inches). Its branches are covered in glandular hairs. This species has elliptic leaves that measure 30 to 70 mm (1.2 to 2.8 inches) long and 2 to 5 mm (0.079 to 0.197 inches) wide; the upper leaf surface is dark green, while the lower surface is paler. Individual flower heads are 1 to 3 mm (0.039 to 0.118 inches) long and approximately 1 mm (0.039 inches) in diameter. Each flower head holds five or six yellow florets, surrounded by four or five overlapping whorls of involucral bracts. These individual flower heads are arranged in a dense corymb that can reach up to 120 mm (4.7 inches) in diameter. Flowering takes place in spring and summer. The achenes produced by this species are around 0.5 mm (0.020 inches) long, and bear a pappus that is about 2 mm (0.079 inches) long. This plant grows in heath and woodland habitat. It occurs on the coast of New South Wales between Taree and Eden, and ranges inland to the Central Tablelands.
