About Carpodacus sibiricus (Pallas, 1773)

The Siberian long-tailed rosefinch, with the scientific name Carpodacus sibiricus (Pallas, 1773), is a species of finch belonging to the family Fringillidae. It can be found in Japan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, South Korea, and Russia. Its natural habitats include temperate forests, subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, and temperate grassland. It is a very rare vagrant to Europe. However, similar to several related Asiatic rosefinches, it is reasonably common in the cage bird trade. For this reason, many European records of the species have been considered to refer to escaped captive birds.
