About Carlina biebersteinii Bernh. ex Hornem.
Carlina biebersteinii is a purple-flowered herb belonging to the tribe Cardueae within the plant family Asteraceae. It occurs naturally in Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Xinjiang region of China. It typically grows in dry meadows and thickets. The species was first formally published as Carlina biebersteinii Bernh. ex Hornem. in Suppl. Hort. Bot. Hafn. on page 94 in 1819. One recorded infraspecific taxon is Carlina biebersteinii var. fennica Meusel & Kästner, which has the accepted synonym Carlina fennica (Meusel & Kästner) Tzvelev.
