About Carissa bispinosa (L.) Desf. ex Brenan
Carissa bispinosa (L.) Desf. ex Brenan grows as a shrub or small tree that reaches up to 5 metres (16 feet) in height. It produces fragrant flowers that have a white corolla. When ripe, its fruit turns red. This plant grows in woodland and forest habitats at elevations ranging from 1,080 m (3,540 ft) to 1,630 m (5,350 ft). Common vernacular names for this species are forest num-num and Y-thorned carissa. Carissa bispinosa is native to a region stretching from Uganda to South Africa.
