About Carex wiegandii Mack.

Carex, the sedge genus, is one of the largest genera of flowering plants. According to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, the genus contains over 2000 species. In May 2015, the Global Carex Group proposed a broader classification of Carex that added all species previously placed in the genera Cymophyllus (1 species), Kobresia (approximately 60 species), Schoenoxiphium (approximately 15 species), and Uncinia (approximately 70 species). As of May 2024, all currently recognized species of Carex, including hybrid species, are listed alphabetically below, organized by letter from A through Z. This species is Carex wiegandii Mack., a member of the genus Carex.
