About Carex vulpinoidea Michx.

Carex vulpinoidea Michx. is a species of sedge, commonly known as fox sedge and American fox-sedge. It is native to North America, where it occurs across most of Canada, the Dominican Republic, the United States, and parts of Mexico. It has also been introduced to Europe and New Zealand, where it is an established introduced species. This sedge grows in wet and seasonally wet habitats, and it easily grows as a roadside weed. It forms clumps of stems that can reach up to one meter in height. Its inflorescence is a dense, tangled cluster made of many flower spikes, reaching up to about 10 cm (3.9 in) long. This species tolerates fluctuating water levels and periods of drying.
