Carex uncinata L.f. is a species of flowering plant in the sedge family, Cyperaceae. It has several common names: Hawai'i birdcatching sedge, hook grass, hook sedge, bastard grass, kamu, and matau-a-maui. This species is native to New Zealand (including the Antipodes Islands), the Society Islands, and Hawaii. It grows in natural habitats from coastal areas up to an elevation of 1,000 m (3,300 ft), occurring across sites that range from native forest to shrubland.
