About Carex remota L.
Scientific name: Carex remota L.
Remote sedge, also called Carex remota L., grows in grass-like clumps. These clumps can reach up to 75 centimeters in height, and up to 30 centimeters in diameter.
Its stems are green, trigonous (meaning triangular in cross-section), and are faintly serrated above the highest leaf, an area that is technically classified as the peduncle.
Its leaves measure between 30 and 60 centimeters long. They are V-shaped and upright when they emerge, becoming flat and drooping toward their tips. The leaves are bright green and have finely serrated edges.
The inflorescence is made up of 4 to 10 sessile spikes that spiral corkscrew-style up the stem. These spikes are typically around 5 millimeters long, and are a very pale green color.
