Carex pilosa Scop. is a perennial species that can be either deciduous or evergreen, and can grow with either rhizomes or in a tufted form. This plant reaches a maximum height of 60 cm. Its stems are triangular, bearing leaves that are linear or strap-shaped. It produces spikes of tiny flowers that are green or brown, which bloom between April and May. In terms of distribution and habitat, Carex pilosa prefers woodland habitats. These preferred habitats include oak and hornbeam forests, herb-rich beech forests, and alluvial forests.
