About Carex oklahomensis Mack.
The genus Carex, commonly known as sedges, is one of the largest genera of flowering plants. According to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, the genus contains over 2000 species. In May 2015, the Global Carex Group proposed a broader circumscription of the genus Carex. This reclassification added all species that were formerly classified in four other genera: Cymophyllus (1 species), Kobresia (approximately 60 species), Schoenoxiphium (approximately 15 species), and Uncinia (approximately 70 species). As of May 2024, all currently recognized species of Carex, including hybrid species, are listed in alphabetical order below, organized from A through Z.
