About Carex nudata W.Boott

Carex nudata W.Boott is a bright green sedge. It grows in mounds below the high-water mark in marshes and on river banks. It produces long scaly spikes of flowers that are black, dark reddish, or dusky brown. These flower spikes start out erect, then droop as they become heavy. This sedge is distributed across California, Oregon, and Washington. It grows among rocks, develops a dense mounding form similar to bunchgrass, and occurs in both coastal and montane habitats.
