About Carex interior L.H.Bailey
Carex interior, commonly called inland sedge, is a species of sedge. It is native to a large portion of North America, ranging from Alaska to northern Mexico and extending to the mid-Atlantic United States. It grows in wet habitats, and occurs most frequently in calcareous soils. This sedge grows in clumps of stems that reach a maximum height of close to one meter, with just a few leaves growing on each stem. Its inflorescence is an open arrangement of star-shaped flower spikes, which are covered in gold-colored scales. The fruit of this plant is covered by a toothed perigynium that has a red tip.
