Carex gigantea, commonly known as giant sedge, is a species of flowering plant that belongs to the family Cyperaceae. It is native to the southeastern United States and the adjacent adjoining states. This perennial plant grows up to 120 cm (4 ft) in height. It occurs at elevations ranging from 0 to 400 m (0 to 1,300 ft) in swamps and wet clearings.
