About Carex diandra Schrank

This sedge, Carex diandra Schrank, grows in clumps with triangular stems that can reach 90 centimeters in length. Its leaves feature sheaths marked by white edges and red dots, and the leaves themselves grow to around 30 centimeters long. The plant's inflorescence is simple or occasionally compound, and is composed of several clusters of stiff, light brown spikes. It is widely distributed across the Northern Hemisphere, occurring throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, and is also recorded growing in New Zealand. It occupies a broad range of wet habitat types, including wetlands, meadows, bogs, and lakeshores.
