Carex demissa Hornem. is a species of sedge belonging to the genus Carex. It is part of the Carex flava species complex. This species is native to Iceland, Macaronesia, the whole of Europe, and western Asia, with its native range extending to the Himalayas; it may also be native to Greenland. It has been introduced to eastern Canada, New Jersey, and Tasmania.
