Carex curvula All. is commonly called the Alpine sedge, a name that is also used for other species in the genus Carex. It is a species of flowering plant in the genus Carex, native to the Pyrenees, the Alps, the Carpathians, and the mountains of the Balkans. This species is considered extinct in Germany. It reproduces almost entirely through clonal propagation, and some of its clonal colonies have been estimated to be 2,000 years old.
