Scientific name: Carex cryptolepis Mack. Carex cryptolepis, commonly called northeastern sedge, is a North American sedge species. It was first formally described by Kenneth Mackenzie in 1914. This species grows in wetland habitats, including shorelines, swales, and fens. Its native range covers the Great Lakes region, the northeastern United States, and southcentral and southeastern Canada. It is known to potentially hybridize with Carex viridula.
