Carex castanea Wahlenb. is a species of flowering plant in the sedge family Cyperaceae, native to North America. It is commonly known as chestnut sedge, and is also sometimes called chestnut woodland sedge or chestnut-colored sedge. In Canada, its range stretches from Manitoba to the eastern seaboard. In the United States, its range runs from Minnesota to New England. This species is listed as endangered in the U.S. states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
