About Carex capillaris L.
Carex capillaris L., commonly called the hair-like sedge, is a species of sedge. It occurs in North America, northern Eurasia, and Greenland. Carex tiogana, a taxon native to northern California, is sometimes treated as part of Carex capillaris. Two subspecies of Carex capillaris are currently accepted: Carex capillaris subsp. capillaris, and Carex capillaris subsp. fuscidula (V.I.Krecz. ex T.V.Egorova) Á.Löve & D.Löve. Ecologically, Carex capillaris acts as a known host for several species of fungi: Anthracoidea capillaris, Didymella proximella, Lophodermium caricinum, and Puccinia dioicae.
