Carex arctata Boott, commonly known as drooping woodland sedge, is a species of sedge native to eastern North America. It has several alternative common names: black sedge, compressed sedge, and drooping wood sedge. In Canada, its range extends from Manitoba to the Maritimes; in the United States, it reaches south to northwestern North Carolina and west to Minnesota. This sedge grows in bogs, hardwood forests, and spruce forests.
