Across different regions of the continent, it holds various conservation statuses: it is listed as threatened in Connecticut and Massachusetts, listed as endangered in Indiana, New Jersey, and Ohio, classified as possibly extirpated in Maine, and classified as both endangered and possibly extirpated in Tennessee.
