About Carex alba Scop.
Carex alba Scop. is a species of sedge that typically grows in thick clumps. Mature plants reach between 15–30 cm (5.9–11.8 in) in height. Its stems are slender, trigonous, and smooth, with leafless sheaths at the base. Its leaves are shorter than the stem and have flat blades. The plant's bracts are greenish-brown and sheathlike. Its flowers grow as terminal spikes and are white in colour. Its nutlets are dark brown, obovate-elliptic, and trigonous. This species flowers and produces fruits from June to July. It favours dry, wooded areas, temperate pine forests, and slopes as its habitat.
