About Cardamine quinquefolia (M.Bieb.) Schmalh.

Cardamine quinquefolia, common names five-leaved cuckoo flower and whorled coral-root, is a flowering plant species in the Brassicaceae family. It is native to a region stretching from southeastern Europe to northern Iran. This spreading herbaceous perennial grows up to 30 cm (12 in) tall and 100 cm (39 in) wide. In spring, it produces large clusters of violet-colored flowers. The Latin specific epithet quinquefolia translates to "with five-lobed leaves". The entire plant dies back in summer. Cardamine quinquefolia is used as groundcover in gardens, and has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. It grows best in a sheltered location with full sun or partial shade.
