About Cardamine macrophylla Willd.

Cardamine macrophylla Willd. is a perennial herb, 30 cm to 70 cm tall, sometimes up to 1 m. Its rhizomes are creeping and sometimes tuberous. The basal leaves are pinnate, pedicled on the creeping rhizomes. The terminal leaflet is long - ovate to lanceolate with toothed margins, and the lateral leaflets are similar to the terminal leaflet. The cauline leaves are similar to the basal leaves but slightly smaller and are mostly located in the middle and upper parts of the plant. The flowers are lilac to purplish red, with the calyx margins being white membranous and the petals having long claws. The seeds are oblong. This species exhibits high diversity in leaflet size and leaf - margin morphology.
