About Cardamine flexuosa With.
Cardamine flexuosa With. is a small flowering plant that grows no taller than 30 cm (12 in). It is usually an annual or a short-lived perennial, and produces a small number of short, erect stems. Its leaves are pinnate, most growing at the base of the plant, and each leaf holds around 5 pairs of rounded leaflets. The flowers are very small, white, and measure 3–4 mm across, with 6 stamens. The fruits of C. flexuosa generally do not grow higher than the plant's flowers, a characteristic that sets it apart from Cardamine hirsuta.
This species is native to the British Isles, Europe, North Africa, Turkey, and Iran, and has been widely introduced to other regions outside of its native range. In Ireland, it is common in shady, damp woodland areas. In the Northeast Indian state of Manipur, where it is called chaantruk, C. flexuosa is eaten as an aromatic herb, and is often used as a garnish for eromba.
