About Carabus solieri Dejean, 1826

Carabus solieri Dejean, 1826 can reach a body length of about 25–40 millimetres (0.98–1.57 in). Its body is quite slender, with a bright metallic coloration that may be green, golden-green, or green-coppery. The elytra are broad and robust, have violet-red borders, and are crossed lengthwise by ribs. This species feeds mainly on snails, and is active during twilight and at night. It is found in France and Italy, particularly in parts of the Western Alps and the Apennines. It occurs in beech and chestnut forests with abundant rotting leaves, at elevations between roughly 100–2,500 metres (330–8,200 ft) above sea level.
