Carabus lafossei, a species of ground beetle, grows to an overall length of approximately 34 to 39 millimeters, or 1.3 to 1.5 inches. Its body coloration varies widely based on subspecies. The head and pronotum may be red or bluish, while the elytra may be red, bluish, or green, all with a strong metallic sheen. The surface of the elytra is covered in numerous small tubercles. These attractive ground beetles are only active at night. They primarily eat slugs, snails, and earthworms. This species is native to the southern provinces of China.
