Carabus cancellatus Illiger, 1798, commonly called the latticed worm and slug hunter, is a species of ground beetle. It is common across Central and Northern Europe as well as Siberia, and has been introduced to North America. This beetle lives in open country areas. Adults of this species reach a length of 17 to 32 millimetres, which equals 0.67 to 1.26 inches. Most of the time, adult Carabus cancellatus are nocturnal, but they are active during the day throughout their reproductive period.
