About Capsicum rhomboideum (Dunal) Kuntze

Capsicum rhomboideum (Dunal) Kuntze is typically a perennial shrub. It is densely covered in trichomes, giving it a pubescent texture. This species is most easily recognized by its leaves, which range in shape from rhomboidal to elliptical. Its flowers have a five-toothed calyx and a yellow, bell-shaped corolla. The pollen grains of Capsicum rhomboideum are extremely small, measuring only 15 micrometers. When mature, the fruits of C. rhomboideum are shaped and sized like peas, and are bright red to black when fresh. Fruits darken in color as they dry. Each fruit typically produces 2 to 6 brown seeds.
