About Capnoides sempervirens (L.) Borkh.

Capnoides sempervirens (L.) Borkh. plants grow 20 to 80 cm (7.9 to 31.5 inches) tall. Both stems and leaves have a glaucous coating. Leaves are 1 to 3 cm (0.39 to 1.18 inches) long, twice pinnately divided, and are usually segmented into 3 lobes, with occasional segmentation into 4 lobes. The plant produces tubular flowers that are pink with yellow tips, measuring 1 to 1.7 cm (0.39 to 0.67 inches) long, arranged in dangling clusters. Its seeds are black, shiny, and about 1 mm (0.039 inches) wide. The seeds are held tightly together inside long, thin cylindrical pods. Flowering occurs from May to September. This species often grows in areas disturbed by fire. It is native to a range extending from Newfoundland to Alaska, and south into the eastern United States.
