About Candalides xanthospilos (Hübner, 1817)

Candalides xanthospilos, commonly known as the yellow-spot blue, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. It is found along the eastern coast of Australia, ranging through the states of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. This species has a wingspan of approximately 25 mm (0.98 in). Adult yellow-spot blue butterflies are brown in color. The larvae of Candalides xanthospilos have been documented feeding on multiple species in the Pimelea genus: specifically Pimelea colorans, Pimelea latifolia, Pimelea linifolia, and Pimelea ligustrina.
