About Canbya candida Parry ex A.Gray

Canbya candida, commonly known as pygmy poppy or white pygmy poppy, is a tiny, white-flowered annual plant belonging to the genus Canbya in the poppy family. This species occurs in the western Mojave Desert region of Southern California. Mature plants grow to a height of 1 to 3 centimeters (which is 3โ„8 to 1+1โ„8 inches). The leaves of Canbya candida measure 5 to 9 millimeters (3โ„16 to 11โ„32 inches) in length. Its flowers grow from leaf axils, and each flower has 5 to 7 white petals that are individually 3 to 4 millimeters (1โ„8 to 5โ„32 inches) long, plus 6 to 9 stamens.
