About Camponotus cinctellus (Gerstaecker, 1859)

All worker castes of Camponotus cinctellus are characterized by the somewhat shimmering, golden-hued pubescence on their gaster. On the gaster, erect bristles are only present on the posterior segments. The species' reddish leg color distinguishes it from the similar, smaller species C. sericeus. This ant is native to eastern Africa, ranging from Eritrea south through Kenya, Rwanda, the DRC, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa, reaching as far south as coastal Transkei.
