About Campanula barbata L.
Campanula barbata L., commonly called bearded bellflower, grows to a height of 20 to 30 centimetres, which equals 7.9 to 11.8 inches. This species forms a small basal rosette of grayish-green leaves. Its leaves are simple, lanceolate in shape, have toothed margins, and grow in an alternate arrangement. It produces racemes of nodding, bell-shaped flowers that range in color from pale blue to deep blue. The inside of these flowers is hairy, which gives the species its specific epithet barbata, meaning "bearded" in Latin. Flowering occurs from June to August. This plant is native to Norway, France, Italy, and Central Europe. It grows in mountain habitats at elevations between 1,100 and 2,600 metres above sea level, or 3,600 to 8,500 feet.
