About Calytrix glutinosa Lindl.

Calytrix glutinosa Lindl. is a hairless glabrous shrub that usually grows no taller than 1 metre (3 feet 3 inches). Its leaves spread outwards or grow erect, are linear in shape, and measure 3 to 15 millimetres long by 0.8 to 1.1 millimetres wide, attached to a 0.5 to 1 millimetre long petiole. This species does not have stipules. Its peduncle is 9 to 17 millimetres long, with egg-shaped to lance-shaped lobes that are 3.5 to 6.5 millimetres long. The floral tube is 10 to 14 millimetres long, not attached to the style, and has 5 ribs. The sepals are fused together at the base for up to 0.75 millimetres, and their lobes are roughly circular to broadly egg-shaped with the narrow end towards the base, 2.25 to 3.0 millimetres long and 2.25 to 3.5 millimetres wide, with an awn that can reach up to 16 millimetres in length. The petals are pink to mauve with a white base, and are lance-shaped or elliptic, 9.0 to 12.5 millimetres long and 3.75 to 5.5 millimetres wide. Around 10 to 20 white stamens arranged in 1 or 2 rows are present, and these turn reddish-purple as they age. Flowering takes place from August to December. This species of Calytrix grows on hillsides, granite outcrops and sandy ridges, occurring between the Northampton and Wubin district in the Avon Wheatbelt, Geraldton Sandplains, Jarrah Forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Yalgoo bioregions of south-western Western Australia.
