Calosoma wilcoxi, commonly called Wilcox's caterpillar hunter, is a species of ground beetle that belongs to the subfamily Carabinae. This species was first described by John Lawrence LeConte in 1847, under the accepted scientific name Calosoma wilcoxi LeConte, 1847. It is native to Canada and the United States. In this range, it can be found inhabiting deciduous forests, adjacent gardens, cultivated fields, orchards, and tree stands located in urban areas. Adult C. wilcoxi are active both during the day and at night, and they overwinter inside cavities in the ground. Adult individuals prey on caterpillars and grasshoppers.
