Calosoma marginale, commonly known as the rimmed caterpillar hunter, is a species of ground beetle belonging to the family Carabidae. This species is found across Central America and North America, with confirmed occurrences in Costa Rica; the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Michoacan, Neuvo Leon, and Tamaulipas; and the U.S. states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. It inhabits prairies, pastures, cultivated fields, and wastelands. Adult Calosoma marginale are crepuscular, overwinter in the ground, and prey on caterpillars and scarabaeids.
